Laura brings high-level experience in stakeholder relations, communications, operations and logistics to Wazuku’s Ottawa government relations team. Clients and colleagues appreciate her tactful and diplomatic communication style.
An Effective Leader
Laura has been honing her talent for creating meaningful experiences and connections since her days as a university student leader. She has worked on all manner of events over the last decade and enjoys every aspect of event planning, from budget management to operations to managing volunteers.
Since her days stewarding major donors at McGill University, Laura has exhibited a knack for managing and promoting donor relations. She successfully employed these abilities in her capacity as Manager, Development and Events with the Liberal Party of Canada, where she and her team managed all national fundraising events and donor relations.
Laura has built a strong network in government through her various roles with the LPC. She earned a high degree of trust as Manager, Logistics and Administration for the 2015 federal campaign Leader’s Tour and was subsequently appointed manage all aspects of the party’s 2016 Biennial Convention, from establishing objectives and overseeing the budget to building and leading the convention team. Under Laura’s leadership, the convention surpassed its delegate goal by 33 percent.
An underlying passion to build and foster community propel Laura’s interest in political events and fundraising. This drive has led to a career in government relations, where she can explore the intersection of private business and government. Her goal: to play a role in building what she considers the ultimate community, Canada.
Laura holds a BA in Art History and Communications from McGill University, where she won the prestigious Scarlet Key Award for outstanding student leadership. A native of Ottawa, Laura is extremely well connected in the capital. When she manages to break free of the city, she heads to her cottage in Perth, where she enjoys doing all manner of water sports and joining her husband on walks with their Cockapoo, Arlo.
